The Valiant
by Lesley Livingston
The youngest daughter of a proud Celtic king, Fallon has always lived in the shadow of her older sister Sorcha's legendary reputation as a warrior. But when Fallon was a young child, the armies of Julius Caesar invaded the island of Britain and her beloved older sister was killed in battle.
On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Fallon is excited to follow in her sister's footsteps and earn her rightful place in her father's royal war band. But she never gets the chance. Instead, Fallon is captured by a band of ruthless brigands who sell her to an exclusive training school for female gladiators—and its most influential patron is none other than Julius Caesar himself. In a cruel twist of fate, Fallon's worst enemy, the man who destroyed her family, might be her only hope of survival.
Now, Fallon must overcome vicious rivalries, chilling threats and the dangerous attention of Caesar himself to survive the deadly fights that take place both in and out of the arena—and claim her place in history among the Valiant.

MY RATING:-🌟🌟🌟🌟
i must say this was a really really really fast paced novel like if i had to say that this is the second most fast paced novel I've read first being Percy Jackson.but due it's fast paced story telling you are so immersed in the novel that at every twist and turn it kept you at the edge of your seat and just made it hard for you to put the book down.
the world though the writing style though was so epic like i could imagine each and everything it was like being there i felt like i was there in the arena a gladiatrix although I'm pretty i would die in like two seconds because first i don't know how to fight and second i would be throwing up all over the place because let's be real i can't see blood without throwing up.although i must say i knew a lot about the slave trade and what went down in the arena in Rome because lets be honest who hasn't watched gladiator and if you haven't then you need to because it's so AWESOME!!!
i feel like there is only one main character in this book and that is Fallon like most of the story revolves around her and at first i didn't like her that much i thought that she was a brat and trust me guys that girl needs some training for keeping things that will keep her alive like each time she was in a dire situation and she went to search for a weapon she never had one and she was always like "i left that in my bag or nightstand or everyplace i went except right here in my waistband"like girl grow up if you want to be a ya protagonist you need to always have a weapon.also she had a knack in going into all the situations without thinking them through which basically i love in female protagonists but it was annoying.so ..yeah but in the end she redeemed herself by doing something that got a big smile from me and a "that's my girl" so yeah she is a ya protagonist now in my eyes.
coming to Elka i mean i loved her so much in this whole book she is my favourite character she doesn't dwells on thing she is super kick ass and a very strong female character that i instantly loved her.
and Cai i mean i was shipping him with Fallon hardcore since the tenth chapter you know a reader's sixth sense it's never wrong.he was a nice character too.he helped Fallon and what not and i just liked him.
there were many other characters too but this novel solely went through its storyline because the plot was just so epic and great that you loved this book right away although i must say none of the plot twist were that big you could figure it out pretty easily and that's why i wasn't much surprised by this book.
but this was a great read you should pick it up if you liked gladiators or you like knowing about ancient Rome or just if you like bad ass females fighting in an arena(i would definitely be sold at that😉)

“Are you a weapon or a target? Choose!”
“Be brave, gladiatrix, he said, And be wary. Bright things beget treachery. Beautiful things breed envy. Once you win Caesar's love, you'll earn his enemies' hate.”
