Geekerella
by Ashley Poston
Cinderella goes to the con in this fandom-fueled twist on the classic fairy tale.
Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom. Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.
Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but the Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise.

MY RATING:-🌟🌟🌟🌟
4.5 Stars
Omg this was adorable.so adorable just so cute so relatable and just soo good just i love this book and so yes people this one of the rarest of rare contemporary books which i've come to Love so now since, that's done lets jump right in to talking about this beauty.
where do i even start hold up let me start with the story so this a dual perspective novel one pov being of Danielle our female protagonist and the other one being darien our male protagonist so danielle right here is a big fan of a sci-fi show called starfield she used watch it with her dad and just the show holds a lot of good memories for her on the other hand we have darien who is like a big tv show star and who got famous from a soap opera.another fact is that he also loves starfield
so this starfield show is being re-enacted in a movie and darien has been cast in it and its like a dream come true for him but Danielle doesn't like him being cast for the role because she thinks he wouldn't do justice to the show which is like really relatable and then there is this con coming up where there is going to be a cosplay and all that jazz and because of this con Danielle and darien start texting each other and things go down in the book.
so basically from what I've gathered this book is like Danielle and darien finding their place in the world and just doing what they love and not caring about what anyone else thinks.
Now coming to the characters Danielle and darien were like so adorable just they were so geeky and all those references they made with each other was just so sweet and cute and adorable that i couldn't help but love it.
also i really liked Elle's green haired friend(i don't remember the name OK?)just she was so badass and so nice to Elle and like she helped Elle in so many ways just love her
but..like in every contemporary read here's a list of things that irked me
1)the whole texting thing just didn't seem real?like they just start texting and they fall in love like okay they can fall in love but texting?like if a stranger texted me repeatedly i would call the cops straight up call me paranoid i know what texters do in horror movies so texting with strangers?hell to the no buddy.
2)Mean sistersSister to be more accurate but just this is getting real old man this mean sisters theme was famous maybe a couple of centuries ago but not now like i get it its a Cinderella retelling but man give me something new not to mention mean sisters make me want to punch them or strangle them which is not good for my mental health in lieu of mean sisters I've a better theme how about mean dragons that sounds real cool!(even though it will turn this into fantasy book but who cares?)
but still despite of all this i loved this book it just showed the geeky nature and a fandoms worth so greatly man! highly recommend it to all geeks out there.

BOOK QUOTES:-
“I'm half of my father. Half of my hero. And I am half of my mother. Half soft sighs and half sharp edges. And if they can be Carmindor and Amara--then somewhere in my blood and bones I can be too. I'm the lost princess. I'm the villain of my story, and the hero. Part of my mom and part of my dad. I am a fact of the universe. The Possible and the Impossible. I am not no one. I am my parents' daughter, and then I realize--I realize that in this universe they're alive too. They're alive through me. Fashioning my hands into a pistol, I point it at the ceiling, lifting my chin, raising my eyes against the blinding stage lights, and I ignite the stars.”
“Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite.”Here's t book trailer its super awesome and you guys should watch it!
