SHADES OF MAGIC BOOK #2

A Gathering of Shadows

by
A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic, #2)IF YOU HAVEN'T READ A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC THEN DON'T GO AHEAD YOU DON'T WANT TO RUIN IT TRUST ME
It has been four months since a mysterious obsidian stone fell into Kell's possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Prince Rhy was wounded, and since the nefarious Dane twins of White London fell, and four months since the stone was cast with Holland's dying body through the rift--back into Black London.

Now, restless after having given up his smuggling habit, Kell is visited by dreams of ominous magical events, waking only to think of Lila, who disappeared from the docks as she always meant to do. As Red London finalizes preparations for the Element Games--an extravagant international competition of magic meant to entertain and keep healthy the ties between neighboring countries--a certain pirate ship draws closer, carrying old friends back into port.

this was sooooo great seriously guys just so,so so great i love these books i love this author i love everything about this world omg this was perfect.
okay i am calming down so that i could write a decent review but was i insane why didn't i pick it up sooner i hate past akansha for that.
anyways lila was so great i just love her as a character and the first chapters they were so great like i was smiling and laughing through it saying that's my girl and this new character that's introduced alucard..emery? i guess that is his name he is so much like lila that i couldn't help but love him instantly and apparently he is also a magic wizard(i don't know what else to call them so don't judge me)albeit a powerful one and he is so much like lia he wants to know her secrets and lila wants to know his but both are like screw you i won't tell you and this is so lila-ish and alucard does so many things to get lila to share her secrets i just like him.he helps lila he left everthig to become a pirate and in that there is a resembelance
coming to kell he is suffering from EMD i.e excessive magic disorder(what? victoria created a whole language for this book i can't even create a disorder? you bet i would!) so that is the aftermath of what went down in ADSOM and you know i get it i totally do.also another plus point this had rhy chapters that i totally adored not to mention the sibling fights that kell and rhy had those were just so great and adorable.
also in this book kell and lila were so great like kell came regularly to that shop to ask if lila came back and that was so sweet and kell-ish and the way they both didn''t meet until they fought in that wizard tournament(i don't remember the name OK?)that was jut so great and those moments when they were about to meet each other it made me so giddy i just can't tell you.granted they still try to kill each other but you know that happens(okay it doesn't but it happens with them atleast)
but the ending i mean at the ending i literally wanted to throw the king and queen out of the window and scream at kell how could you be so stupid!(well i did scream that and my parents called me crazy but that's normal).
i must say this series is more because of characters and you love these characters so much that you scream things yeah that happens but its such an interesting plot and just such a great world.
if for some tragic, apocalyptic reason you haven't read these books then screw that reason bundle it up and read these books because you are missing something beautiful beyond reason.
also lets just mention that the third and final book is releasing tomorrow and i MIGHT DIE OF EXCITEMENT OMG EVERYTHING WILL COME TO AN END (breathe in and out you don't want to die before you read it ) i need to stop

But first some book quotes(yeah i love this book)

Delilah Bard had a way of finding trouble
"Well, Ister..." Lila backed away towards the curtain. "Do you just...stand here until I need you?"The woman smiled and dug a volume from a pocket. "I have a book.""Let me guess, a religious text?""Actually," said Ister, perching on the low couch. "It's about pirates."

"You tried to seduce me, for information.""You can't hold that against me forever.""It was last night."

"What brings you to my room?" he asked, relief bleeding into annoyance."Adventure. Intrigue. Brotherly concern. Or," continued the prince lazily, "perhaps I'm just giving your mirror something to look at besides your constant pout."Kell frowned, and Rhy smiled. "Ah, there it is! That famous scowl."

“I know where you sleep, Bard.”
She smirked. “Then you know I sleep with knives.”
After all, you can kill people, but you cannot kill magic. Not truly.
