All Souls Trilogy #2

Shadow of Night

by
Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2)

IT BEGAN WITH A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES.

Historian Diana Bishop, descended from a line of powerful witches, and long-lived vampire Matthew Clairmont have broken the laws dividing creatures. When Diana discovered a significant alchemical manuscript in the Bodleian Library, she sparked a struggle in which she became bound to Matthew. Now the fragile coexistence of witches, daemons, vampires and humans is dangerously threatened.

Seeking safety, Diana and Matthew travel back in time to London, 1590. But they soon realize that the past may not provide a haven. Reclaiming his former identity as poet and spy for Queen Elizabeth, the vampire falls back in with a group of radicals known as the School of Night. Many are unruly daemons, the creative minds of the age, including playwright Christopher Marlowe and mathematician Thomas Harriot.

MY RATING:-🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

more like 4.5 stars
i didn't enjoy it as much as the first book but that happens with second books so lets jump right in and talk about this book.
first up we were introduced to a bucket full of new characters in this book and most of them very renowned ones but the most annoying of them was Christopher like i get it man that you are in love with Matthew and what not but that doesn't mean you have to instantly hate her! wait...isn't that what girls do? but you know what I'm talking about! he was just so frustrating and just such a big douche bag to Diana that i loathed him with the bottom of my heart.
i did like the characters of Walter,Henry, gallowglass and George though especially gallowglass like he has this sense of humour and he is like so resourceful and protects diana with a sense of responsibility that i couldn't help but love him.
aaand here comes the sad part we also met the character of Philippe and we know what's going to happen to him but still he was such a caring father like first i was annoyed as hell because of him because let's be real we become annoyed when someone comes in between our ships but then after knowing him more i started to love him more and more not to mention he was like always two steps ahead of his enemies and that made him a great leader and he was a great father and he was just so good.😢
we also met Diana's father and that didn't help the case either because he was witty he genuinely cared for Diana and just...they were so good!you know i don't get it why do authors have to rip my heart with such things i hate it i just...hate it!
but this book i must say took a more historical fiction turn like i didn't know half of the things but it was still fun not to mention many secrets of Matthew's past were revealed in this book and Diana's true potential in power was revealed which is quite a lot things kind of picked up in this book and many secrets were revealed and now we have this giant web of information with which I'm pretty sure Deborah will do her magic and give us a blockbuster finale.
p.s. just in case if you were wondering i still don't want a vampire boyfriend I'm good with my demigod, shadow hunter and a lot of other boys but...you know what I'm talking about 😉
